RHEL: udp send calls may return success even although transmission failed

Issue

  • It is possible that under memory pressure UDP send calls may return the number of bytes sent even although the call failed due to memory constraints.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
  • Application using the UDP protocol.
