Apache failed to start after setting mod_cluster WaitForRemove directive

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Web Server (EWS)
    • 2.0.x
    • 2.1.x
  • Apache httpd 2.2.15
  • mod_cluster 1.2.x

Issue

  • We are trying to tune up mod_cluster by setting up WaitForRemove but Apache won't start after this setting is declared. The httpd.log shows below error message:
Invalid command 'WaitForRemove', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration.

Resolution

  • In the older release of mod_cluster 1.0.x it was used as WaitForRemove but in mod_cluster 1.2.0 and later this directive is no more exist and replaced with new directive WaitBeforeRemove.
## WaitBeforeRemove - Time in seconds before a node removed is forgotten by httpd: (Default: 10 seconds)
WaitBeforeRemove 12
