The AUTO keyword no longer honored in mdadm.conf in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6
Issue
-
A recent update from RHEL6.5 to RHEL6.6 brought a new version of mdadm (mdadm-3.3-6.el6). This version no longer allows disabling of auto assembly of a RAID in the mdadm.conf file (e.g. "AUTO -all").
-
Settings in mdadm.conf with the AUTO keyword are essentially ignored due to an error when attempting to process the environment variable MDADM_CONF_AUTO. In the mdadm source file config.c, a dummy AUTO line is created with no parameters that results in all metadata types being set to ‘yes’, overriding any settings from mdadm.conf. This dummy AUTO line should not be processed if the AUTO keyword has been specified in mdadm.conf.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.6
- mdadm-3.3-6.el6
