Issue

  • Why does "abrtd: dbus error: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory" message appear in /var/log/messages?
  • abrtd is not running after reporting "Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket" and I see this repeatedly in the logs:
Jul 20 15:40:09 example abrt[11217]: abrt daemon is not running. If it crashed, /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern contains a stale value, consider resetting it to 'core'

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • abrt
  • messagebus has not been started
