oracledb resource fails to start when Oracle reports "ORA-32004: obsolete or deprecated parameter(s) specified" in a RHEL 6 High Availability cluster with rgmanager

Issue

  • An oracledb resource is failing on start even though the database actually starts successfully.
  • oracledb seems to fail if the database reports that there is a deprecated parameter in use

  • After having applied OS updates on the first node and rebooted it an oraceldb resource failed to start. It starts fine on the second node which hasn't been updated.
