Resolver routines may require additional overhead for short host name queries when performing top level domain queries in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
Issue
- Resolver routines may require additional overhead for short host name queries when performing top level domain queries in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
- Starting with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 resolver routines perform top level domain query by default which can result in more time and overhead for short host name queries.
- Resolver performance (ie.
gethostbyname) in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is slower than Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, especially when host name is not present in DNS. - Does RHEL 7 support
no-tld-queryoption in/etc/resolv.conf?
