Why does my system resume immediately after entering suspend or hibernate mode?
Resolution
The on-board wired Ethernet card on some systems may incorrectly receive a wake-on-LAN (WoL) signal during system suspend or hibernate events. This causes the system to wake up immediately after entering the suspend or hibernate mode. To work around this issue, disable the WoL feature for the on-board wired Ethernet card by issuing the following command as root and then adding it to the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file:
ethtool --change ethX wol d
Replace "ethX" with the name of your on-board wired Ethernet card, most likely "eth0". Issuing the command from the command line makes it take effect immediately, and adding it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local makes it persistent across reboots.
