How can I prioritize my applications above an LVM mirror sync operation so they are not starved out while the sync is ongoing in RHEL 6
Issue
- We experience a long freeze of IO when we use
lvconvertto recreate a mirror set. - When creating or converting a mirror, we see a lot of I/O and our applications' I/O becomes very slow or gets delayed for some time while the resync completes
- Is there a way to deprioritize the LVM processes that issue I/O to devices during a mirror sync?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
lvm2with RAID 1 mirrors
