Why srtt value for unreachable root name server decreases in dumpdb output in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • I have two root DNS servers for redundancy.
  • After I disabled the network on one root DNS server, the srtt value for the unreachable root DNS server decreased little by little in dumpdb output.
  • In the following case, I disabled the network on the root DNS server with 192.168.100.1, and srtt value 192080 decreased to 184473, and to 177167

  • Why and how it's decreased?
