RHEV: VMs randomly becoming paused and seeing 'metadata too large for circular buffer' in vdsm.log after executing LVM commands

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Some virtual machines are entering in the "pause" state randomly. At first it seemed to affect only new created machines, but now it's affecting machines that were already created and working normally.

This is an example of the error appearing in the RHEVM GUI when a guest becomes paused:

VM <vm_name> has paused due to no Storage space error.

However there is plenty of space available in the storage domain.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2
  • iSCSI or Fibre Channel Data Center
