Why are disk aliases are recycled in RHEV webadmin portal?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • If I create take a VM with three disks (alises <vm_name>_Disk1, <vm_name>_Disk2, <vm_name>_Disk3), delete the second disk and then try to add a new disk the suggested alias for the new disk is <vm_name>_Disk3, which is a duplicate of an already existing virtual disk alias.

    • Create a VM with three virtual disks (VM name: example, disks aliases: example_Disk1, example_Disk2, example_Disk3).
    • Delete the second virtual disk (example_Disk2 is deleted, remaining disks have aliases example_Disk1 and example_Disk3).
    • Add a new virtual disk: suggested alias for the new virtual disk is example_Disk3 which duplicates an existing virtual disk alias.
  • Why does RHEV re-use existing virtual disk aliases when suggesting an alias for a new virtual disk?
