How to slim EAP 6/7 by removing subsystems

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • What kind of changes we might need to make to JBoss EAP6 in order to make it run cleanly with our own 3rd party components. Do we have to move, delete or disable anything of the bundled JBoss components or services? – e.g.

    • JBoss CXF or JBoss web services--> since we use our own chosen webservice-stack libraries.
    • Ininispan (we want to use Hazelcast)
  • How can we slim JBoss EAP 6?

  • How to delete one subsystem in EAP 6?

  • Can we remove unused components from EAP 6?

  • Is it possible to break up standalone.xml into multiple, easily manageable xml files that contain one or more subsystems?

  • How to minimize the modules in JBoss EAP 6.2?
  • We need to know which is the best, minimal and optimized XML configuration profile for our servers.
  • Some modules are in UNSUPPORTED or PREVIEW classification, can we delete the module folder and jars from the JBoss EAP installation to prevent application from using them ?

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 6.x
    • 7.x
