pvcreate is giving me an error 'Device /dev/emcpowera not found (or ignored by filtering)'

Issue

  • pvcreate is giving me an error message 'Device /dev/emcpowera not found (or ignored by filtering)'.
[root@server002 ~]# pvcreate --uuid bzPp9D-9jus-Ncr5-kkhG-geKZ-Gg7l-PpKgSQ /dev/emcpowera 
Device /dev/emcpowera not found (or ignored by filtering). 

  • I have tried to restore the VG config, but here is the error.
[root@server002 backup]#  pvcreate --restorefile vg02 --uuid bzPp9D-9jus-Ncr5-kkhG-geKZ-Gg7l-PpKgSQ /dev/emcpowera 
Couldn't find device with uuid 'bzPp9D-9jus-Ncr5-kkhG-geKZ-Gg7l-PpKgSQ'. 
Device /dev/emcpowera not found (or ignored by filtering).
  • Device appears to be active
[root@server002 tmp]# powermt display dev=emcpowera
