ReaR fails with "ERROR: Failed to make bootable EFI image of GRUB2 (error during grub2-mkstandalone ...)" message

Issue

  • When creating the Rescue ISO on a UEFI system, rear mkrescue (or rear mkbackup) fails with the following error message

    ERROR: Failed to make bootable EFI image of GRUB2 (error during grub2-mkstandalone of ...)
      [...]
      grub2-mkstandalone: error: /usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi/modinfo.sh doesn't exist. Please specify --target or --directory.
