SElinux blocks PostgreSQL startup

Updated 2013-08-24T14:41:48+00:00

Issue

  • With selinux enforcing, I can't start postgresql. Turning selinux off (setenforce 0), I can start it.
  • Postfix won't start up anymore when bound to localhost. Postfix complains with "fatal: config variable inet_interfaces: host not found: localhost" for example in the log, if you have "inet_interfaces = localhost".
  • After patching my server, /etc/nsswitch.conf is mislabeled:
[root@host ~]# ls -Z /etc/nsswitch.conf
-rw-r--r-- root root user_u:object_r:rpm_script_tmp_t /etc/nsswitch.conf

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • sudo-1.7.2p1-12.el5
  • sudo-1.7.2p1-13.el5
  • sudo-1.7.2p1-14.el5_8
