How can a brick from an old volume be reused in a new volume with Red Hat Storage?

Updated 2014-01-09T00:36:17+00:00

Issue

  • When trying to reuse a brick in a new Gluster volume it will fail with a message like this:
# gluster volume add-brick test-vol gluster3:/bricks/app
/bricks/app or a prefix of it is already part of a volume

The stale brick can be either:

  • removed from a volume with the command gluster volume remove-brick ...
  • from an old, deleted volume (gluster volume delete ...)

Environment

  • Red Hat Storage 2.0
