Issue

  • Random errors in /var/log/messages are seen:
Jul  2 07:10:18 server01 kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason <xx>
Jul  2 07:10:18 server01 kernel: You probably have a hardware problem with your RAM chips.
Jul  2 07:10:18 server01 kernel: Dazed and confused, but trying to continue.

Jan 1 11:23:20 server03 kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 3c.
Jan 1 11:23:20 server03 kernel: Do you have a strange power saving mode enabled?
Jan 1 11:23:20 server03 kernel: Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
  • Kernel panic occurs, and system reports the following messages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
Jul 12 01:33:01 server02 kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received. Dazed and confused,but trying to continue
Jul 12 01:33:01 server02 kernel: You probably have a hardware problem with your RAM chips
  • Server reboots & reports the following messages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
Jan 27 06:32:07 server04 kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 3d on CPU 0.
Jan 27 06:32:07 server04 kernel: Do you have a strange power saving mode enabled?
Jan 27 06:32:07 server04 kernel: Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
