How can I configure my Red Hat Enterprise Linux server to use IGMP protocol Version 2 by default?

This Red Hat Knowledgebase article applies to Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases 3, 4, and 5. Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 2.1 only supports Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) version 2, and thus is the default already.

The IGMP protocol is used to manage routing and subscription to multicast traffic between networks, hosts, and routers. IGMP version 3 is the more current version of the protocol, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases 3, 4, and 5 default to using IGMP Version 3.
