CVE-2026-42297
Description
A flaw was found in Argo Workflows. The Sync Service's ConfigMap-backed provider performs zero authorization checks on all create, read, update, and delete operations. This allows any authenticated user, including those using fake Bearer tokens, to manipulate Kubernetes ConfigMaps containing synchronization limits. Such unauthorized access can lead to denial of service or other unauthorized configuration changes within the Kubernetes environment.
Statement
Important: A missing authorization check in Argo Workflows' Sync Service allows any authenticated user, including those with fake Bearer tokens, to perform unauthorized create, read, update, and delete operations on Kubernetes ConfigMaps managing synchronization limits. This vulnerability, affecting Red Hat OpenShift AI, could lead to denial of service, workflow disruption, or unauthorized configuration changes within the Kubernetes environment.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
