Get Started

This guide outlines how to perform an installation of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux MRG Realtime kernel for x86_64 architectures via yum.

  1. Install a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 server with an active network connection.
  2. Register to Red Hat Network Classic:

    # rhn_register

  3. Enable the MRG Realtime channel:

    # rhn-channel -a -c rhel-x86_64-server-6-mrg-realtime-2

  4. Install the realtime kernel group for the kernel and realtime application dependencies:

    # yum groupinstall "MRG Realtime"

  5. Confirm the realtime kernel is specified for boot in /etc/grub.conf.
  6. Reboot the system to begin using the realtime kernel.
