How to delete S3 Buckets of Velero in Openshift Container Platform 4.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Velero requires an object storage bucket in which to store backups, preferably unique to a single Kubernetes cluster
  • An object store plugin for persisting and retrieving backups on AWS S3. Content of backup is log files, warning/error files, restore logs.
  • All snapshots are taken using the appropriate AWS snapshot APIs and are uploaded to a secure AWS S3 object storage bucket in the same account as the cluster, so the backups shouldn't be deleted as they are not part of the cluster so it is expected that they remain untouched.

Environment

  • Openshift Container Platform 4
  • Velero.
