--root
directive will create directory structure and index files for database structure specified by--dbpath
directive (which defaults to/var/lib/rpm
).# ls -d /var/tmp/foo/var/lib/rpm/ ls: cannot access '/var/tmp/foo': No such file or directory # rpm -qa --root /var/tmp/foo # ls -d /var/tmp/foo/var/lib/rpm/ /var/tmp/foo/var/lib/rpm/
