SMB2: Can not create files under directories containing a trailing space

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Creating files under a path that includes a trailing space fails with No such file or directory on a SMB2+ share
  • The file can be created on a SMB share.
  • If the SMB2+ share is mounted with mapchars the file can be created under the path that includes a trailing space, but quotes " are interpreted as symbols in file names.
  • The behavior occurs regardless of the SMB server vendor.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterpise Linux
    • 7
    • 8
