Poor performance of NFS compared to AIX

Issue

  • Longer write and read time of NFS on RHEL when compared to AIX NFS client. In one such test environment reported in case - it took ~0.015s for each write operation in RHEL and ~0.009s in AIX
  • The increased number of rpc calls and specifically the getattr calls noted in the packet capture of RHEL NFS Client were 2x higher than the AIX NFS Client.

  • Symantec Antivirus

    symev_rh_ES_7_3_10_0_229_el7_x86_64
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection SEP - consists of antimalware, intrusion detection and firewall features
  • NFS v3
