Physical machine converted with p2v but the disk is not getting provisioned as a thin-provision

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Physical machine converted with p2v but the disk is not getting provisioned as a thin-provisioned.
  • After converting a physical machine with p2v converter the disk is provisioned as a thin-provisioned but it has allocated the whole disk space. The disk size in the physical machine is 232GB but only 30GB from it are used. When the machine is migrated, the disk is displayed as thin provisioned but the total space and the allocated space is 232GB. In the /etc/virt-v2v.conf we have specified "sparse" in the profile in order to move the disk as thin-provisioned.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.2
