Updating the selinux-policy packages fails with "Re-declaration of typealias unconfined_execmem_exec_t"

Issue

  • When updating the system, selinux-policy-targeted package post-installation shows the following error message

    Installing : selinux-policy-3.13.1-266.el7_8.1.noarch
    Installing : selinux-policy-targeted-3.13.1-266.el7_8.1.noarch
    ‘/etc/selinux/targeted/modules/active/seusers’ -> ‘/etc/selinux/targeted/active/seusers.local’
    Re-declaration of typealias unconfined_execmem_exec_t
    Failed to create node
    Bad typealias declaration at /etc/selinux/targeted/tmp/modules/400/execmem/cil:1
    semodule:  Failed!
    
  • The policy is not update, the old one is used instead

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL 7)
    • selinux
    • Systems upgraded from RHEL 6
