[AMQ7, openwire, redelivery] redelivery counter for message increasing, if consumer is closed without consuming any messages

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • if a broker sends a message to an Openwire consumer, but the consumer was closed before consuming the message, the broker wrongly increments the redelivery count for the pending message. If the number of occurrences of this behaviour exceeded the value of the max-delivery-attempts configuration parameter, the broker sends the message to the dead letter queue (DLQ) or dropped the message, based on your configuration. The issue appears to only affect the Openwire protocol.

Environment
