Issue

  • system will stay in OS setup interface for 30 minutes with Intel RSTE RAID 10
  • Using disk partitions instead of LVM logical volumes for RHEL 8.0 install can lead to a very long delay during installation
  • Installation stalls because r/w requests to the RAID10 device are blocked after a while.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0
  • Systems configured with software RAID 10 (mdraid)
  • installation filesystems use device partitions not LVM logical volumes
