Configure haproxy to route both http and https ports to the same connector of EAP 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have configured haproxy to route both http (port 80) and https (port 443) frontends to the same backend, pointing to EAP 6.4 (port 8080). The problem comes when EAP redirects request coming without ending slash. In this case it is always redirecting to the http port, not respecting the original url schema. That is, from http://mysite/myapp, it redirects correctly to http://mysite/myapp/, however from https://mysite/myappit redirects to http://mysite/myapp/ too, losing the https schema.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6
  • haproxy
