Service rsyslog does not log on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 when using a 7.x configuration file
Issue
- The following error messages will be seen in
/var/log/messages
:
Nov 19 14:12:38 rhel6 rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="5.8.10" x-pid="1732" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] start
Nov 19 14:12:38 rhel6 rsyslogd-2066: could not load module '/lib64/rsyslog/imjournal.so', dlopen: /lib64/rsyslog/imjournal.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

- The rsyslog service will not update certain log files appropriately.
- The rsyslog service will repeatedly stop and start, logging the errors above.
