tg3: 'SIOCSIFFLAGS: Invalid argument' when trying to set IP on RHEL 5.5

Issue

  • Customers looking to utilize the QLogic Ethernet and 4 Gigabit Fibre Channel Expansion Card (CFFh) for IBM BladeCenter (Feature Code #8252) and tg3 driver will have trouble bringing up the network interface when used with PS700, PS701, and PS702 Blade Servers running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.5.
  • This occurs after a customer runs a "modprobe tg3" and then tries to bring up the network interface.
