Issue

  • Microsoft Windows XP guests on KVM that are using the SPICE display (QXL virtual video device) in a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1 environment can become unresponsive, up to the point that they are even unable to respond to a manually injected/forced virtual NMI (non-maskable interrupt).

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1
  • Red Had Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor 6.4 with qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6_4.2.x86_64 and spice-server-0.12.0-12.el6.x86_64
  • Windows XP guest drivers from virtio-win-1.6.4-1.el6_4.noarch
