Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Proxy Not Caching Large RPMs

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Red Hat Network Proxy Not Caching Large RPMs
  • Proxy Server Not Caching 210 M RPM
  • While installing systems using a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 proxy system it was noted that one of the packages, a 210M rpm didn't seem to be caching. The expected slowness of the first installation persists for consequent installations of systems residing in the same network; Note that other packages installing at the same time seem to be cached; they installed slowly on the first system, but then quickly on subsequent systems.  The Red Hat Proxy and the Satellite systems in other locations perform as expected when installing this large RPM (i.e. caching after the first installation).

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • RHN Proxy
