  • Utilizing Smart Card Login With RHEL 6

    Posted on

    All,

I have followed the guide as outlined in: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Managing_Smart_Cards/enabling-smart-card-login.html

Currently, I am using an HID OmniKey Smartcard 3121 reader and have installed the driver from: https://www.hidglobal.com/drivers/21277

So far, the software seems to be working correctly, I have the "Enable SmartCard Login" choices available, the SmartCard Manager seems to work, but I don't seem to be able to communicate with the reader itself. The reader gets power ("Green" light), but when I insert a SmartCard, the light does not indicate any read being attempted by blinking red. Once more, I do not get an option to enroll the smartcard when one is inserted into the reader.

Am I missing something? The PCSCD service has been restarted after the driver installation, reboots, etc. I have also tried using a Dell keyboard with a smartcard reader and that is unresponsive as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.
