Cannot configure a service to start at boot via chkconfig, why ?

Issue

  • Cannot configure a service to start at a particular runlevel using chkconfig, why is it so ?

  • Ran the following commands, but the '--list' command showed up the service/daemon was off.

    #sudo chkconfig --add <service/daemon>
    
    #sudo chkconfig --list <service/daemon>
