udev rules time out and firmware of NICs fail to load at boot in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Issue
- Firmware fails to load and some udev rules time out.
- The following logs can be seen on console :
Starting udev:
udevadm settle - timeout of 180 seconds reached, the event queue contains:

udevd[11136]: worker [13192] unexpectedly returned with status 0x0100
