IP address limit on VNIC

Issue

• IP address limit on VNIC
• I am trying to add a number of IP addresses to a 2nd VNIC on a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM.
• I can add as many IP addresses as I want.
• I cannot ping any of the IPs added above a certain limit.
• if I try to ping any of the IPs that I've added above a certain number I get no response.
• I've been doing some research to see if it is a limit in Windows, but everything I've read suggests that I can add well more than 40 without any problem.
• Are there any limits in Red Hat with the number of IPs that can communicate on a VNIC?
