In RHEL, how do I print from my application which generates printer escape codes for formatting?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • The printing through application is not working. The application adds this code to the document for proper formatting:

    <ESC>&l1O<ESC>&l8D<ESC>(s0p16h0s2b4102T<ESC>&a10L

but the escape codes are not having an effect.

  • Our application generates labels for Zebra printers. The labels aren't printing, though. Just a bunch of text with some extra characters with carets (^) around the text.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), all versions
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS), all versions
