iSCSI Helper

Updated -
Explanation of iSCSI

iSCSI (internet Small Computer System Inferface) provides block-level storage over IP networks. iSCSI is popular for making use of storage pools within server virtualization.

How the iSCSI Helper Tool Works
  • The iSCSI Helper Tool leads you through a series of steps to help you configure your iSCSI target (server) or initiator (client).
  • When you complete all the steps, this tool generates a script based on the information you have entered.
  • Run this script to prepare the system for its defined role as an iSCSI target (server) or initiator (client).

Note:
The iSCSI Helper Tool allows for the differences in configuration for all modern Red Hat® Enterprise Linux versions.

Features of the iSCSI Helper Tool
  • You can specify either single or multiple targets for the iSCSI target to create with single or multiple luns
  • You can specify single or multiple targets for the iSCSI initiator.
  • This tool also supports ACL control and CHAP authentication.

One thing the iSCSI Helper does not offer a lot of is an explanation (?) for each field and each aspect when filling out the Setup for the initiator(client) setup page and/or target(server) setup page. It creates it and provides it without much actual explanation.

Hi Charles,

The help info has been already developed, while we have to pass the technical professor's review, and then I will make it online. Please wait a few days for it.

Thanks, Jingjing

Hi Charles, I've already added the help info(explanation) on the fields, please check. And let me know the items if you need other explanation.

Thanks, Jingjing
