Where is /etc/modprobe.conf in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and later?

Issue

  • The file /etc/modprobe.conf does not exist in RHEL 6, where do I put the modprobe configurations?
  • If the modprobe.conf file is used, the following message may appear when the module is loaded:
WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/. 
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/fc-hba.conf.old, it will be ignored in a future release.
