Synopsis
rhgs-gluster-block-prov-container bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Product Enhancement Advisory
Topic
New rhgs-gluster-block-prov-container packages are now available for Container-Native Storage 3.6.
Description
Gluster-block provisioner is a distributed management framework for block devices, provided as a command line utility. It aims to make block interface backed persistent volume creation and maintenance as simple as possible. gluster-block provisioner can provision block devices and export them as iSCSI LUNs across multiple nodes and uses iSCSI protocol for data transfer as SCSI block/commands.
This enhancement update adds the gluster-block package to Container-Native Storage 3.6 and Container Ready Storage deployments. It also adds the supporting package tcmu-runner, a userspace service that exports files on Gluster volumes as iSCSI back-end storage.
In addition, this update adds the following enhancement:
- With this update, a new gluster-block provisioner container is available by default as part of the cns-deploy tool. This allows Heketi, which is shipped with Container-Native Storage 3.6, to work along with the gluster block provisioner to provision gluster-block storage for an Openshift Container Platform dynamically. (BZ#1446082)
All users who require gluster-block should install these new packages.
