package updates: JBoss Operations Network 3.1.2 jboss-on-agent

Description

A new jboss-on-agent package is available for JBoss Operations Network
3.1.2 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with JBoss Enterprise Application
Platform 6.

JBoss Operations Network provides detailed monitoring, alerting,
configuration management, and application and content deployment for a
variety of different resource types, including JBoss products and platforms
such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows. JBoss Operations Network
includes both a server and an agent which installed on each managed system.

This new version of jboss-on-agent package provides several important bug fixes:

• The jon-agent service used to write its logs to the

/usr/share/jboss-on-<ver>/agent/logs/ directory. This has been changed to
the /var/log/jboss-on/agent directory, as with other system services.

• The agent service could not write its PID file during system startup

because it had insufficient file permissions to write to the /var/run
directory. (BZ#816000)

• Uninstalling the agent did not remove the agent configuration file or the

agent Java preferences directory. (BZ#835693)

• If the agent was started through its wrapper script by the root user,

then all of the logs in the agent/logs/ directory belongs to that root
user. This led to the JON agent system user, jbosson-agent, being denied
permission to write to the log directory and, therefore, from starting the
service. (BZ#835892)

Users who are managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 resources with JBoss
Operations Network 3.1.2 should install these new packages.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
