Enterprise Linux 5.3. These packages are a temporary driver update which
enables the following hardware: Broadcom BCM57xx-series.
Description
The kmod-bnx2-RHEL53-1.8.2b-1.3 packages provide kernel modules for
controlling Broadcom NetXtreme II network devices.
kmod-bnx2-RHEL53-1.8.2b-1.3 is a temporary driver update released as part
of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Driver Update Program (DUP). (BZ#522090)
The kmod-bnx2-RHEL53-1.8.2b-1.3 packages provide temporary drivers for the
following hardware beyond what was delivered in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
5.3:
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-T
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-SX
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-SX

Note: the kmod-bnx2 drivers have only been tested on the hardware noted
above. As the kmod-bnx2-RHEL53-1.8.2b-1.3 is a DUP process test case, there
is no kBase associated with it. Production DUP errata releases will include
links to a reference kBase article listing specific hardware models that
require the DUP-released driver.
Only users requiring temporary driver support for the specific hardware
noted above should install this package. These packages must not be
installed unless a system includes the exact hardware
kmod-bnx2-RHEL53-1.8.2b-1.3 explicitly supports.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
