An updated metrics-heapster image that fixes multiple bugs is now available for Red Hat OpenShift Enterprise 3.1.
OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat is the company's cloud computing Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Multiple errors in pod metrics collection resulted in values failing to be recorded. This bug fix updates the metrics-heapster image to correct these errors, ensuring proper metrics collection. (BZ#1337853)
- Previously when cluster metrics were enabled, metrics were gathered on a set schedule that could get out of sync if the processing time took longer than the gathering interval. Once out of sync by about 2 minutes, metrics could no longer be gathered due to the schedule being behind the actual time, and empty metrics were returned from then on. This bug fix updates the metrics-heapster image to base its schedule on the current time, preventing Heapster from requesting metrics which are older than what it could provide. As a result, the metrics gathering schedule no longer gets out of sync in this way, and metrics are reported as expected. (BZ#1351148)

All OpenShift Enterprise 3 users are advised to upgrade to this updated image.
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
If you have an existing metrics deployment in your cluster, scale the `heapster` replication controller in the `openshift-infra` project down to 0, then scale it back up to 1 to fully apply this update:
$ oc scale --replicas=0 rc heapster -n openshift-infra
$ oc scale --replicas=1 rc heapster -n openshift-infra
