Updated OpenStack Telemetry packages that resolve various issues are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7.0 (Kilo) for
RHEL 7.

Description

Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for
building a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:

• OpenStack Telemetry service

OpenStack Telemetry (ceilometer) collects customer usage data for metering
purposes. Telemetry implements bus listener, push, and polling agents for
data collection. This data is stored in a database and presented via the
REST API. In addition, Telemetry's extensible design means it can be
optionally extended to gather customized data sets.

With this release, the Telemetry service is now re-based to upstream version 2015.1.2 (BZ#1274879). This applies several updates, including the addition of the kafka-python library.

The kafka-python library provides support for Apache Kafka. This, in turn, allows the Telemetry service to dispatch events and samples with the Kafka publisher. (BZ#1247982)

This update also applies a backported patch from the next upstream OpenStack release. This patch fixes a bug that prevented alarms from registering a Project ID, which was caused by incorrect shadowing of required arguments. In addition, this patch now allows non-admin users to create alarms. (BZ#1260857)

Solution

Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.

Linux 7.2.
