Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Bare Metal Provisioning packages that resolve various
issues are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform
7.0 (Kilo) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for
building a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for the OpenStack Bare Metal Provisioning service.
OpenStack Bare Metal Provisioning service (ironic) provides an API for
management and provisioning of physical machines.
Changes to the openstack-ironic component:
- Bare Metal Provisioning (Ironic) now supports a driver that manages Cisco UCS servers. Using the new driver with Cisco UCS servers allows for better support for more advanced features. (BZ#1230875)
- Previously, the '--autofree' parameter was included by default in the boot.ipxe template used by Bare Metal Provisioning (Ironic), but the parameter is not supported on older versions of the iPXE ROM (including v1.0.0, which is the stable release and the one that is packaged with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform). When those older versions were used to boot nodes, the boot failed. Now, the '--autofree' parameter is not included in the iPXE template by default, and older and newer versions of iPXE are supported using the same template. Nodes using older versions can now boot successfully. Users can still add the '--autofree' parameter manually; it is good practice to use the parameter, but it is not mandatory. (BZ#1255357)
Changes to the python-ironicclient component:
- Users can now set the maintenance mode and provision state of Bare Metal Provisioning (Ironic) nodes using 'openstackclient' commands. Previously, Ironic used a mix of 'python-ironicclient' and 'openstackclient' commands. This enhancement provides a more unified interface to the user. The new commands are available as part of the 'openstack baremetal' command-line interface. (BZ#1241094)
