RHBA-2015:1656 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Satellite 5.7 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated cobbler, satellite-schema, spacewalk-java, spacewalk-reports,
spacewalk-schema and spacewalk-utils packages that fix several bugs and add
various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Satellite 5.7.
Description
Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructures.
It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple Linux
deployments with a single, centralized tool.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Prior to this update, accessing invalid Satellite URLs led to "Internal Server
Error". Consequently, the tomcat log file was filled with traceback messages.
This bug has been fixed and the aforementioned error no longer occurs when
accessing invalid URLs. (BZ#596245) - Prior to this update, the spacewalk-clone-by-date command used with the -d or
- z option included errata newer than the specified date when creating a clone
channel. This bug has been fixed, and spacewalk-clone-by-date now filters errata
correctly. (BZ#1166673) - Previously, running the spacewalk-clone-by-date command mode could exceed the
maximum recursion depth when processing dependency loops between packages.
Consequently, the command failed with the following message:
RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded in cmp
This bug has been fixed, and the maximum recursion depth is no longer exceeded.
(BZ#1222906)
- Under certain circumstances, taskomatic queue could be filled by multiple
errata cache recalculation requests. This update prevents queuing the same type
of requests into the taskomatic queue. (BZ#1227335) - Under certain circumstances, merging two channels failed with the "method
dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed" message. This bug has been fixed,
and channels are now merged without complications. (BZ#1236940) - Prior to this update, Satellite only recognized a kickstart tree with the
KSInstallType parameter containing "rhel" or "fedora". This restriction has been
removed, and other types of kickstart trees can now be used. (BZ#1245767) - Prior to this update, it was possible for the Satellite web UI to show fully
updated systems as still having unapplied errata. This behavior has been
addressed, and systems now report correct errata-status. (BZ#1218768) - With this update, cobbler has been updated to correctly handle url-encoded
incoming URLs. (BZ#1245769)
In addition, this update adds the following enhancements:
- The systemgroup.listSystemsMinimal API call has been extended to return the
date of the last boot and the date of the last registration. (BZ#1179479) - This update adds the ability to generate a list of all proxies and systems
subscribed on a proxy to the spacewalk-report command. (BZ#1225654) - This update fixes rendering issues on several pages when using Internet
Explorer 10 or 11. (BZ#1243992)
Users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs and add these enhancements.
Solution
Application of this errata involves updating the database schema.
For general instructions on the database schema upgrade, consult the following
document first: https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/273633
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied. To apply this erratum, take the following
steps:
- Shut down Red Hat Satellite by running the following command as root:
rhn-satellite stop
- Backup the database. For embedded or managed database variants, please consult
Red Hat Satellite 5.6 documentation. For an external database, consult your
database administrator. - Upgrade the errata packages. Details on how to apply this update are available
at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258 - Update the database schema using the spacewalk-schema-upgrade command. To do
so, run as root:
spacewalk-schema-upgrade
This process will update your database schema to the latest version. The
spacewalk-schema-upgrade command will inform you about the results of the
upgrade and exact locations of schema upgrade log files.
- Restart Red Hat Satellite by running the following as root:
rhn-satellite start
