Updated devtoolset-2-oprofile packages that fix several bugs and add various
enhancements are now available for Red Hat Developer Toolset 2.1.

Description

OProfile is a low-overhead, system-wide profiler that uses the performance
monitoring hardware on the processor to retrieve information about the kernel
and executables on the system. The devtoolset-2-oprofile packages provide the
Red Hat Developer Toolset version of OProfile.

The devtoolset-2-oprofile packages have been upgraded to a later version that is
required by Red Hat Developer Toolset 2.1. For example, OProfile now supports
the Haswell microarchitecture processors.

This update also fixes the following bug:

• Previously, the opcontrol script did not set the "extra" parameter of named

unit masks for the "--event" option. As a consequence, named unit masks with
"extra" did not function properly. With this update, opcontrol configures the
unit masks as expected and the problem no longer occurs. (BZ#999568)

Users of oprofile are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix
these bugs and add these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
