RHBA-2013:0067 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
yum-updatesd bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated yum-updatesd package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The yum-updatesd package provides notification of updates which are available to
be applied to the system. This notification can be done either via syslog, email
or over the D-BUS communication system.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Previously, after calling the doSetup routine the yum-updatesd daemon was
losing the contents of the "ident" variable. Consequently, the data sent to
syslog could not be identified properly in the /var/log/messages file. This
update modifies the "ident" variable to preserve as expected and information in
syslog messages in the /var/log/messages file is correct. (BZ#563494)
- Due to a misprint, email notifications about available updates contained the
word "packets" instead of "packages". This update corrects the spelling.
(BZ#597431)
All users of the yum-updatesd are advised to upgrade to this updated package,
which fixes these bugs.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
