RHBA-2011:0272 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
piranha bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated piranha package that fixes various bugs is now available for Red Hat
Cluster Suite 4.
Description
Piranha provides high availability and load-balancing services for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. It includes various tools to administer and configure the
Linux Virtual Server (LVS) as well as heartbeating and failover components. The
LVS is a dynamically adjusted kernel routing mechanism that provides load
balancing primarily for Web and FTP servers, though other services are
supported.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Previously, piranha removed slashes from "send" commands. This caused the
nanny daemon to time out. This update no longer removes the slashes. (BZ#497828)
- Previously, the nanny daemon had no default query string, when it should have
defaulted to a basic web service query. This update adds this query string.
(BZ#498908)
- Previously, the pulse daemon failed when users added a real port in the
graphical user interface of piranha. This was due to problems with rport if
piranha tried to load-balance over one machine. With this update, specifying a
real port in lvs.cf no longer causes pulse to fail. (BZ#506049)
- Previously, piranha attempted to remove the primary group of the user which
was already removed by a previous command and piranha terminated unexpectedly
due to a error in the "groupdel" command. This update fixes the error and no
longer attempts to remove already deleted groups. (BZ#656277)
All Piranha users are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which resolves
these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
